£15 an Hour and a Union!

Saturday 25th September8:30pm9pm
Old Steine Gardens - Big Tent

In 2017, BFAWU members led the first strike of McDonald's workers in UK history. In 2019, more workers marched on Downing Street, this time explicitly demanding a £15 an hour minimum wage and an end to youth rates.

In the two years since, the Covid crash and the government’s ineptitude has plunged hundreds of thousands into poverty - yet many employers are relying on one-off bonuses to entice hospitality and service workers to fill labour shortages, rather than committing to paying a real, dignified living wage. The BFAWU motion, backed by Momentum, calls for the Labour Party to commit to raising the minimum wage to £15 an hour. This rally is a chance to make their demand heard.
