A number of social democratic parties across Europe have suffered "Pasokification," the fate of the Greek centre-left party that lost three-quarters of its voters in just three years. In the last decades, the Labour Party has also seen its support base fracture. What is driving social democratic decline and what can be done to avoid this fate?

Jon Trickett is a Labour MP for the constituency of Hemsworth.
Costas Lapavitsas is a professor of economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and was elected as a member of the Hellenic Parliament for the left-wing Syriza party in the January 2015 general election.
Joana Ramiro is host of Red Hacks, a Politics Theory Other podcast. She is a freelance journalist and her articles have been published in the Independent, the Sunday Mirror, New Statesman, Grazia, Vice and others.
