Empire, racism, and UK foreign policy today

This interactive lecture will explore how today's UK foreign policy grew out of the structures and ideologies of the British empire. We'll examine the racism of the British ruling class, and how it has both justified and shaped imperial power relations. And we'll discuss the applicability of the concept of "imperialism" to British foreign  policy today.

Dr David Wearing is a Teaching Fellow in International Relations at Royal Holloway, University of London, expert on UK foreign relations in the Middle East, and author of “AngloArabia: Why Gulf Wealth Matters To Britain”.
