Organising 101

Saturday 25th September3pm4:30pm
Brighthelm Centre - Hannover Room

The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) is a grassroots trade union, made up of migrant and precarious workers who have traditionally been under-represented, from couriers, private hire drivers, to cleaners and more. The union fights against outsourcing and for rights in the gig economy. They are known for bold campaigning, grassroots organising, and being entirely member-led. In this interactive workshop they will be getting back to the basics of organising. This means taking seriously how power is built from the workplace, mapping and having organising conversations. The activities will help you to better understand what a trade union is, how you can organise in your workplace or industry, and how you have the power to bring about real, democratic, collective change!
