Despite a public consensus that austerity failed, a change in rhetoric from the Government and even increases in public spending and taxation, we still hear regular talk of ‘sacrifices’ to pay back pandemic spending, and the need to ‘balance the books’.
In this workshop, activists will be shown which arguments and narratives are most effective in persuading people that austerity 2.0 is neither fair nor good for the economy. Based on groundbreaking research conducted this summer, attendees will be talked through the effectiveness of different approaches and be given the opportunity to construct their own arguments for a given scenario.
