With the new Labour leadership reverting to the “tough on crime” rhetoric of the Blair years, and many MPs continuing to advocate the controversial Nordic Model, now is a key moment for the left to advance decriminalisation as a crucial organising principle which pushes back against a rising agenda of state violence and punishment. This session will focus on the decriminalisation of both drugs and sex work, and will explore how current organising around this issue can serve to forge connections between struggles and to to embed abolitionist principles into labour left organising.
