Policing Bill - The Threat to Gypsy and Traveller Communities

Saturday 25th September5:30pm7pm
Community Base

The Policing Bill poses the biggest assault on nomadic existence for decades and embodies the hostile environment against Gypsies and Travellers. The Bill, currently in parliament, seeks to criminalise trespass and introduce tougher police powers of eviction which will have a devastating impact on Gypsy and Traveller communities and likely to capture others experiencing homelessness. This event hears from Gypsy and Traveller speakers on this existential threat and outlines a human rights based and humane approach to the accommodation needs of Gypsy and Traveller people.

Please note this event is also open to Labour Party delegates who are operating under a different Covid policy and so there may be people in the event who haven't provided a negative lateral flow test within the last 24 hours.
