TWT FM Presents: The Law - Collective Listening Session
‘Better run when you hear the sirens coming’. Thinking about both the way the law and police are depicted in music, and the specific formations that emerge under pressure from the law, this session asks how music cultures are inflected by the police and legal system. Considering racist licensing laws from the Blues Parties of ‘60s West London to Grime and the notorious Form 696, via warehouse raves, the Enterprise Allowance Scheme, squatting, youth clubs and more, we'll explore repression and resistance across music communities, and share the tunes with us that tell the story.
